Which Is Your Favorite Season?

What do you like best about winter? I know that is a loaded question. It seems people either love winter or hate it. There are a few that want it to snow one time and then be gone. Others want the snow on the ground but not on the roads or walks. Then there are those who want a white Christmas and nothing more. There are the few who want lots and lots of snow. These are usually the kids. They just want to get out of school.

It really doesn’t matter what we want. We don’t have much control over the weather. That really is a good thing, because we could never agree on what kind of weather we should have.

The seasons really are nice, but as I get older I look less and less forward to the cold winter. There are lots of people that like no winter at all. Just look at the number of people who live in California where the weather is suppose to be the most perfect all year round. Then there are those Eskimos who live in the cold and snow almost all year round.

I guess it takes all kinds to make up the world. I don’t think I would like the same kind of weather all year long. It is nice to watch the year go by with the seasonal changes.

Each season has something special about it. Spring with new life everywhere. Summer with everything lush and green. Fall with the many colors of the leaves. Winter with the snow.

Each season also has something that no one likes. Spring with all the rain. Summer with the heat. Fall with the everything dying. Winter with the chilly cold.

So, do you have a favorite season? What is your favorite season?

God Became Man by Pastor Glenn

As we at Woodville Baptist Church continue our journey through The Story, we come to the birth of Jesus. So we are celebrating Christmas in October. Every Christmas we celebrate Jesus, God’s Son, being born as a baby in a manger. However, Christmas is missed if we only think of the baby in the manger. There is so much more to it than that.

“And the Word was made flesh” (John 1:14) or became man. The Word became incarnated or flesh. The Word was made flesh and made His dwelling among us (John 1:14). The Word, who was God, was made flesh (John 1:1 and 14).

When Jesus came to this earth men saw in Him the splendor of God, and at the heart of that splendor was love. When Jesus came to this earth men saw the wonder of God, and the center of that wonder was love. When Jesus came men saw that God’s glory and God’s love were one and the same thing.

The astounding feature of God – the really amazing thing is that God took flesh, human flesh. Why? He became one with us human beings in order that we might become one with Him. He shared in our flesh in order that we might share in His divinity.

That fact alone is so amazing that none of us can truly get our minds wrapped around it. The Almighty God, Creator of all things, wants so badly to have a personal relationship with each of us that He allowed Himself to become a human so we can better understand and relate to Him. God became flesh so each of us would have the opportunity to share with Him in His heaven for all eternity.

Mind blown! Reasoning gone! Why would He do such a thing? Because His love is so great for us. Christmas show us what lengths God will go to have a personal relationship with you and me. God is the central character of this grand story of the Bible. It is all about Him and His desire to be in a relationship with the crown of His creation - people. God created the world with the grand vision of dwelling together with us in the world. It is God’s supreme passion to be with you.

Wow! We are invited to soak in the fact that the God of the universe wants to be with us more than anything on earth, literally. However, God won’t force this relationship. God gave us freedom of choice. What is your choice?
